Northern Xinjiang is known for its stunning landscapes, while Southern Xinjiang is rich in cultural experiences. If it's your first time visiting, Northern Xinjiang is highly recommended!
Packing List: Neck pillow, raincoat, power bank, charger, drone, camera, sunscreen, sunglasses, face cream, essential balm, wet wipes, trash bags.
Clothing Recommendations: Wear a windbreaker (the wind in Xinjiang at the end of May and early June is quite strong), outdoor hiking boots, a backpack, sun protection sleeves, gloves, and a mask.
Important Notes: Always carry your ID card with you, as it's required for refueling.
Food and Drinks: The fruits are delicious, and you must try the barbecue, hand-pulled noodles, pilaf, big plate chicken, and lung-shaped noodles. The water is slightly alkaline, and food portions in Xinjiang are large. You can refill your main dish for free, so be mindful not to over-order to avoid waste. (Food in Hemu is very expensive, so budget-conscious travelers should stock up before heading there.)
Travel Tips: Xinjiang's daylight hours are from 8 AM to 10 PM, so one day is usually enough to explore most attractions. Plan your itinerary, book flights, hotels, and car rentals early to avoid last-minute price hikes.
