The Atomium is a must-visit landmark in Brussels. Built for the 1958 World Expo, it represented Belgium's vision of future technology at the time and has since become an iconic symbol of the city.
🧬 A truly unique architectural design
The structure is a magnified model of an iron crystal, scaled up by 165 billion times. It consists of nine silver spheres connected by steel beams. Standing beneath the tower and looking up, you'll be awestruck by its proportions and metallic texture.
🚇 You can explore the spheres
After purchasing a ticket, you can take an elevator to the observation deck in the highest sphere, which offers panoramic views of Brussels, nearby parks, and the Mini-Europe miniature park. Other spheres house exhibition spaces and light-filled corridors, with escalators connecting them, creating a futuristic vibe.
🎨 Exhibitions worth exploring
Inside, you’ll find displays about the history of the Atomium, along with permanent and temporary art exhibitions. Some exhibits feature immersive light installations paired with music and spatial design, making it a great spot to sit back and enjoy.
📌 Tips:
~ You can book tickets in advance on the official website or online platforms. I bought mine on-site and found that tickets purchased via Trip.com were cheaper, so check for deals.
~ The Mini-Europe miniature park is located right next to the Atomium, and you can get a bird's-eye view of it from above.
