No trip to Brussels is complete without meeting its cheeky mascot, Manneken Pis. This small bronze statue of a little boy has been standing just a short walk from the Grand Place since the 17th century, and despite its size, it attracts visitors from around the world.
What makes Manneken Pis special is not just the humor behind it but also the tradition. The statue often gets dressed in colorful costumes—ranging from national outfits to quirky themed clothing. There’s even a nearby museum that displays hundreds of his past costumes! Around the statue, you’ll also find plenty of Belgian waffle shops and chocolate boutiques, making it a fun stop while exploring central Brussels.
Though small, Manneken Pis is a symbol of the city’s playful spirit and resilience. Locals are proud of him, and visitors can’t help but smile when they finally see this world-famous figure.
✨ Tip: Visit early in the morning to avoid the biggest crowds. If you’re lucky, you might catch him in costume or even “pouring” local beer during a festival!
