Yongdusan Park, now widely known as Busan Tower, is easily accessible via a short walk and escalators from Nampo Station's Exit 1. The park offers a surprising green space in the heart of the city. The escalator ride itself is visually interesting with its neon art displays and connects to a temple and exercise area.
Busan Tower stands prominently at the top, reportedly offering 360-degree views of Yeongdo and Jagalchi. A duty-free shop inside caters to the many international tourists. While we skipped the observation deck, we later learned our accommodation offered discounts.
The park features familiar landmarks like a flower clock tower and a pavilion, alongside a statue of Admiral Yi Sun-sin. We enjoyed a break at "Yongdu Dabang," a charming cafe by the tower. The souvenir shop offers a range of cute "Boogi" mascot items. While Busan's famous fishcakes are widely available elsewhere, the local Boogi merchandise makes for a nice souvenir.
Busan Tower may be more engaging at night with its media art. Be aware that there is no descending escalator; the options are stairs or a trail. Overall, Yongdusan Park is worth a visit when in Nampo-dong for its accessible location and pleasant atmosphere.
