Reflecting on Democracy in My Daily Life

I've always felt like I took the word "democracy" for granted. However, the day I visited Democracy Park and the Democracy Movement Memorial Hall, I was forced to reconsider the relationship between my daily life and democracy. The park's scenery alone was calming, but more than anything, the newspaper clippings, messages left by citizens, and photos and videos from the time displayed at various events poignantly demonstrated how our freedoms were protected. At the Democracy Movement Memorial Hall, I carefully followed the guide's instructions and listened to the testimonies of those who experienced those times firsthand. Each story resonated with me, deeply moving as if it were my own. It was a precious moment to realize that the protagonists of the democracy movement were not "special heroes," but ordinary people just like us. It gave me the courage to believe that I, too, can contribute to society through small actions. On my way home, I cherished the fact that the freedom and rights I possess in my daily life are never a given.
