Koishikawa Botanical Garden, located in Bunkyo, Tokyo, is a serene retreat and one of Japan’s oldest botanical gardens. Managed by the University of Tokyo, it spans over 16 hectares and houses an impressive collection of native and exotic plants. During my visit, I wandered through beautifully themed sections, including the rose garden, seasonal flower beds, and greenhouses filled with tropical species. The garden is especially spectacular during spring, when cherry blossoms and vibrant azaleas fill the pathways with color, and in autumn, when ginkgo trees turn golden. Educational signs and well-maintained trails make it easy to learn about plant species and enjoy a leisurely stroll. Koishikawa Botanical Garden is perfect for photography, nature walks, or simply escaping the urban bustle, offering a peaceful oasis right in the heart of Tokyo.
