Epic Ocean Views at HaeDong YongGungSa Temple: Busan’s Cliffside Gem 🌊🙏

Are you looking for a temple with some serious wow factor? HaeDong YongGungSa in northeast Busan is not your average spot – this place is built right on a seaside cliff for insane turquoise views of the East Sea! Talk about a vibe: it’s so serene and totally mind-calming, perfect if you wanna chill or just zone out to the sound of waves.

HaeDong YongGungSa was first built way back in 1376 during the Goryeo Dynasty. Most temples in Korea are up in the mountains, but this one faces the sea and gives off major peaceful energy. As soon as you roll up to the entrance, you’ll spot two routes heading to the main temple—take the right path, which is a gentle downward slope (thank me later for the easy walk).

You’ll quickly see the massive Guanyin Goddess of Mercy statue overlooking the East Sea, just radiating calmness. The stone stairs down to the temple are a bit uneven and narrow, so watch your step – but trust, the views only get more next-level! The whole temple complex isn’t huge, but give yourself at least an hour to soak in the beauty, snap pics of the stunning architecture, and vibe with the ASMR sounds of waves crashing against the cliff.

Don’t miss walking all the way to the edge of the temple grounds – you’ll get that epic cliffside panorama and a full-on sensory experience with the ocean.

Heads up: If you’re coming by public bus, budget about 15 mins to walk from the bus stop to the entrance. There aren’t any food or drink spots around.
