Haedong Yonggungsa Temple was founded in 1376 and is located in Gijang County, Busan, South Korea. Its original name was "Pumunsa Temple", but it was burned down due to war. It was rebuilt by Monk Yungang of Tongdosa Temple in the early 1930s. In 1974, when Monk Jeongam was the abbot, he made a great wish to restore the Guanyin temple. After praying sincerely for a hundred days, Guanyin Bodhisattva riding a dragon and wearing white clothes appeared in his dream, so he changed the name of the temple to "Haedong Yonggungsa Temple". This temple is one of the three major Guanyin holy sites in #Korea and the only Buddhist temple standing by the sea. Because it combines the sea, dragon and Guanyin Buddha, it has a deeper religious meaning than other places. Therefore, many tourists who come to #Busan旅行 will come here to visit and make wishes 🙏🙏🙏!
After we got off the bus 🚕 and walked out of the parking lot, we saw the "Sixty Years and Twelve Zodiac Statue" dedicated to Oriental philosophy. Walking further, we saw the "Traffic Safety Prayer Tower" praying for everyone to have safe driving. Before entering Ryuguji Temple, you can also taste some authentic food at the snack stalls 😋😋.
Inside the temple, which is located on a huge rock wall, there are the 10-meter-tall Haishui Guanyin statue of Medicine Buddha, also known as the East China Sea Liyan Buddha, the Dragon King Hall, the Kufa Hall, the Daxiong Hall, and the three-story stone pagoda with four lions. The most famous scenery is the 108 stone steps and the Sunrise Rock. We walked down the 108 stone steps from the entrance of Ryugu Temple and saw a vast expanse of deep blue ocean in front of us. It was as if we were standing at the "end of the world" deep into Ryugu. The Sunrise Rock is located in the middle of the 108 steps. Standing on the rock, we can clearly hear the crisp sound of the waves hitting the rock wall. At sunset, the neon sky and the deep blue sea set off this spectacular seaside temple, forming a beautiful landscape painting. In order to take the most beautiful photos, we were so busy holding the cameras in both hands! 😅😅
Arriving at the temple is the moment to test our sincerity. Legend has it that as long as we pray sincerely at #HaedongRyonggungsa, the Bodhisattva will appear in our dreams and fulfill a wish. When we come to #BusanTravel, of course we have to make a wish to make this trip worthwhile! 😁😁
