The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) is a modern museum that recently opened, located in the Fustat district south of Cairo. Its spacious and bright exhibition areas feature permanent exhibitions divided into several themes, ranging from clothing, religion, writing, metalwork, and daily life, offering visitors a diverse perspective on the civilization and wisdom of the ancient Egyptian people. The clearly organized exhibits, complemented by multimedia presentations, facilitate a deeper understanding of the historical context, making it a crucial venue for a deeper understanding of Egyptian culture.
However, the most breathtaking part is the Royal Mummy Hall in the basement. This collection houses over 20 mummies of ancient Egyptian kings and queens, including the world-famous Ramses II, the first female pharaoh Hatshepsut, Seti I, and Amenhotep I. Each is the remains of a real-life king, preserved in exceptional condition. The solemn and dignified atmosphere of the exhibition halls, where photography is prohibited, invites visitors to step softly and whisper softly, as if conversing with spirits from thousands of years ago.
This isn't just a tourist spot, but a profound experience of gazing at history and respecting life. Whether or not you're familiar with Egyptian history, it's worth visiting to witness this ancient civilization firsthand.
