Yue Fei, a renowned national hero. His courtesy name was Pengju, and he was a native of Tangyin County, Xiangzhou, in the western part of Hebei Province during the Song Dynasty (present-day Chenggang Village, Caiyuan Town, 30 miles east of Tangyin County, Anyang City). He was a renowned general of the Southern Song Dynasty. Therefore, a visit to Tangyin County is best preceded by a visit to the Yue Fei Temple. Yue Fei's life of battles took him throughout China, and as a result, temples have been erected in other locations, including the Yue Fei Tomb Temple in Hangzhou; the Yue Fei Temple in Zhuxian Town, Kaifeng; the Yuewang Temple in Wuchang (Ezhou); the Yue Fei Temple in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong; and the Yue Fei Temple in Fuzhou.
The "Song Yue Zhongwu Wang Temple," originally named Jingzhong Temple, is located on Southwest Street in Tangyin County, Henan Province. While its original construction date is unknown, the current site dates back to the first year of the Jingtai reign of the Ming Dynasty (1450). Renovated and expanded numerous times throughout the ages, it now covers over 6,400 square meters, encompassing six courtyards and over 100 buildings. Its rich interior features majestic halls and numerous steles.
The Yue Fei Historical Relics Exhibition Hall, located east of the Yue Temple in Tangyin County, is part of a newly expanded facility and serves as a prime location for commemorating the national hero Yue Fei and promoting patriotic education. The exhibition hall's five sections, titled "Lofty Aspirations," "Intense Aspirations," "An Eternal Injustice," "People's Memories," and "A Chronological Biography of Yue Fei," vividly showcase the lofty ideals of the national hero.
