The local travel agency and hotel both said that there were no seats available for hot air balloon rides in the next week, which made me regret not booking in advance. ⠀

With the mentality of "grasping at the last straw", I searched on Taobao to see if there were any one-day tours with hot air balloons. After asking several places, one finally replied that there were seats available that day and we would be taking a hot air balloon ride with a joint venture company. ⠀

Although I knew that the evaluation and reputation of the joint company were not as good as the most popular hot air balloon companies (such as Butterfly Balloons), I did not hesitate to book it on Taobao when I had no choice. The price was about HK$1,900 per person, which was even more expensive than what I saw on the official website. I did it just to fulfill my dream of "riding a hot air balloon in Türkiye". ⠀

I had already felt relieved because the booking was successful, but the night before the hot air balloon ride, I waited for a long time for the customer service to inform me of the meeting time for the next day. No one answered my calls or replied to my messages. After I urged her again and again, she told me: Sorry, the hot air balloon flight tomorrow was cancelled because of the "sudden" strike of the pilots...

Faced with this sudden news 6 hours before the flight, I was at a loss as to what to do. That day was our last morning in Cappadocia. If we had to stay one or two more days to ride the hot air balloon, or even change our subsequent itinerary, the cost would have been too high; in the end, we had no choice but to accept our fate. ⠀

The whole process of planning the hot air balloon was like a roller coaster ride, which made me go from regaining hope to falling back to the bottom. Of course, I don’t believe that the pilots were really on strike. Maybe someone bought the seats that originally belonged to us at a higher price... Let’s not get into these things. ⠀

✨Here I would like to advise everyone that if you are determined to ride a hot air balloon when you come to Türkiye, it is best to book a hot air balloon as soon as possible after booking your flight ticket! Especially during peak season, don't risk not getting a seat just to save a few hundred dollars. ⠀
