Suzhou's 36th Garden: Zhao Garden
Zhao Garden, also known as Shuiwu Garden, was originally part of the ruins of Ming Xiaowangchuan. In the 4th year of the Tongzhi period of the Qing dynasty (1865), the garden was owned by Zhao Liewen of Yanghu, and was completed in the 14th year of the Guangxu period.
Zhao Garden is backed by the southern foot of Yushan Mountain, with the Xicheng Pavilion on the mountainside and the Xinfeng Pavilion on the top of the mountain in full view. The rippling water in the garden blends with the mountain and water, like a natural landscape painting.
