|A place where nothing is impossible. The dojo of Avalokitesvara, the royal temple of the Southern Dynasties, Changzhou Baolin Temple|||It is said that "there are 480 temples in the Southern Dynasties, and many pavilions are in the mist and rain." In Changzhou, Jiangsu, Baolin Temple is one of the particularly large temples. It was a royal temple built by Emperor Xiao Yan of the Liang Dynasty in the Southern Dynasties. The master in the temple said that there was a legend about the Baolin Temple Avalokitesvara stepping on the West Taihu Lake. Since then, Baolin Temple has built the Guanyin Cultural Park and the Guanyin Pagoda, enshrining the nearly 40-meter-high Three-Faced Ten-Directions Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. This place has become a well-known Guanyin dojo.
There are four major attractions in Baolin Temple. The first is the nine Nine Dragon Pillars. The "Nine Dragon Pillars" symbolize the royal dignity of Baolin Temple as a royal temple at that time; the second is the Guanyin Pavilion, which has a lotus-shaped bottom and is nearly 100 meters high, looking like a pure lotus bud about to bloom. The exterior is made up of 108 lotus-petal-shaped niches, each of which houses a golden Buddha Arhat, glittering in the sun. Finally, the Guanyin Pavilion houses the Three-Faced Ten-Directions Guanyin, surrounded by 9,999 miniature Guanyins. Although they are all newly built, they look spectacular. The Thousand-Handed Guanyin Hall houses a statue of the Thousand-Handed Guanyin with 1,999 hands, which is incredibly beautiful.
