Okinawa’s American Village - Glimpse of Night & Day

—> Getting There
American Village is located in Chatan Town along Okinawa’s west coast. It’s more accessible compared to the northern areas, and the best way to get there is by driving. Fret not—there are plenty of parking spaces available (you can to locate the free ones using Google maps). We parked at a large free parking space in-front of AEON Mall :)

—> Attractions
During the day, American Village’s colourful building creates a cheerful and laidback atmosphere. There are tons of boutiques, souvenir shops and vintage /thrift stores. Whether you're hunting for vintage Americana, souvenirs, or unique Okinawan crafts, American Village offers a treasure-filled experience worth exploring. To beat the heat while strolling,

American Village has plenty of ways to stay cool and comfortable:
1. Blue Seal - refreshing soft serve with various local flavours
2. Café break / craft beers - perfect for cooling down after a day of walking.
3. Arcades - Gachapon capsule toy store, anime figures at specialty stores around Depot Island

When the sun sets, American Village transforms into a totally different vibe from the daytime. Neon signs light up the streets, shopfronts glow with neon colour, and the whole village comes alive. There are live music, cozy bars, and late-night food spots waiting to be discovered.

—> Food
The food in American Village is mostly fusion, with plenty of options such as steakhouses, burgers, taco rice, and pizza. There are also a handful of places serving local cuisine such as Okinawa soba, sushi bars, and ramen. With so many choices packed into one area, it was honestly difficult to decide what to eat—especially since we only had a day to explore!
