📍Kuanzhai Alley in Chengdu
📄It consists of three parallel old streets and courtyards, Kuanxiangzi, Zhaixiangzi and Jingxiangzi. It is one of the three major historical and cultural protection areas in Chengdu. It is also the last remnant of the urban pattern of the "Thousand-year-old Shaocheng" in old Chengdu and the original architectural pattern of a hundred years. It is also the only remaining northern hutong culture and architectural style in the south.
Narrow alleys are quieter than wide alleys. They are mainly residential areas. The wooden doors and blue brick houses are decorated with exquisite carvings, showing the wealthy life of the bannermen in the past. As these courtyards are still inhabited, visitors can only get a glimpse of their daily lives through the gaps. Near the well alley, there is a row of gray walls with some portraits combining black and white images with bronze sculptures on the walls. People playing cards, making tea, chatting around the table, etc., are all portrayals of life in old Chengdu.
It is best for tourists to visit the bars and restaurants in the alleys at night, as the neon signs are very attractive.
How to get there:
Metro Line 4 - Get off at Kuanzhai Alley Station.
