Kuan Alley and Zhai Alley at night

We visited Kuanzhai Alley (Wide and Narrow Alleys) in Chengdu during the beautiful autumn season, and it instantly became one of our favorite places.
This historic area blends old Sichuan architecture with modern cafés, local snacks, and tea houses. The air was filled with the smell of roasted nuts, spicy hotpot broth, and jasmine tea — truly the scent of Chengdu in autumn. 🍵
We enjoyed wandering through the narrow alleys, trying local street food, and taking photos under the red lanterns. It’s a lively yet relaxing place where every corner tells a story.
At night, the lights came on, music floated through the streets, and the atmosphere turned warm and romantic — perfect for a quiet evening walk.
Getting there: Take Metro Line 4 to Wide and Narrow Alley Station or Line 2 to People’s Park Station, then walk 5 minutes.
Pro tip: Go around sunset for golden light and fewer crowds. Don’t miss the traditional tea houses hidden in the side lanes!
