Chengdu has been a base for creative arts in the recent decade, and many artists have done their exhibition in Tianfu Arts Museum.
For example, Huang Yongyu who learnt a variety of artistic styles but later on settled down on a sorta comical way of representation. As he put it, there are a gazillion of ways to look at the world, but perhaps comics is one of the most powerful.
An exhibition of his newer works So Long, So Rich was held here from January 5 to April 6, 2025. It features an eye-opening number of 217 pieces of arts created by Huang Yongyu after the age of 90, marking his return to Chengdu after more than four decades.
The art works were organized into six thematic sections: “The Newly Appointed Elder,” “Seeing Mountains as Mountains,” “The Speed of the Brush,” “Time Flies So Fast,” “These Melancholy Fragments,” and “Finale: Tonight.”
It totally highlighted Huang Yongyu's enduring creativity and optimistic spirit, providing visitors with an immersive experience of his artistic journey.
