🌿 Huanhuaxi Park – A Calm Escape in the Heart of Chengdu

Tucked just beside the famous Du Fu Thatched Cottage, Huanhuaxi Park (浣花溪公园) is one of Chengdu’s most peaceful and underrated green spaces — and it quickly became one of my favorite morning stroll spots during my stay.

🌳 With wide, shady paths, bamboo groves, and a gentle stream running through it, this park feels worlds away from the city buzz. Locals gather here for tai chi, dance sessions, or poetry recitals, adding to the park’s calm, literary vibe.

📖 True to its poetic name (which roughly translates to “Stream for Washing Flowers”), Huanhuaxi has strong cultural ties — especially with Du Fu, one of China’s greatest poets, who once lived nearby. You can truly feel the poetry in the air here.

🧭 Tip:
• Entry is free
• Best visited in the morning or late afternoon
• Pair it with a trip to Du Fu Thatched Cottage (杜甫草堂) right next door
• Very local vibe — less touristy than People’s Park or Wide & Narrow Alleys

This is a spot where Chengdu slows down, where nature and culture blend seamlessly — and I highly recommend carving out an hour here.
