Jinli in Chengdu is an old neighborhood with ancient origins. It existed during the Qin, Han and Three Kingdoms period. It is also the oldest and most commercial street in Western Sichuan, witnessing the historical development of Chengdu. Jinli is located next to the Wuhou Temple Museum in Chengdu. It is full of Three Kingdoms culture and Sichuan traditional folk culture. Visitors can experience the Three Kingdoms artistic conception here and also feel the folk customs of Western Sichuan.
The architecture of Jinli is based on the style of Sichuan folk houses in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. The blue-gray brick and tile roofs are staggered and the wooden windows are elegant and simple. It is a typical Ming and Qing architectural style. Some teahouses and theaters in the ancient street block regularly perform traditional performances such as Sichuan opera and face-changing🎭, allowing tourists to experience the folk culture of Western Sichuan.
There are many Sichuan specialties🍡 in the block. In addition to delicious food, there are all kinds of shops on both sides of the street, including teahouses, theaters, wine shops, handicraft workshops, handicraft stalls, etc., with a wide range of goods. It is a good place to buy tourist souvenirs🛍. If you are interested, you can also go to the teahouse to experience the local tea drinking culture🫖.
In general, Jinli Ancient Street is like many old street attractions in China. It has a strong commercial flavor but lacks heritage. The food and shopping are all the same and lack novelty. But with the mentality of visiting here for a visit and checking in, it’s okay to come and see the style of the ancient street.
