Exploring Jinli in Chengdu: A Journey Through Time to Taste Bashu Flavors

When visiting Chengdu, Jinli is a must-visit destination to experience the ancient charm of Bashu culture. Located next to Wuhou Shrine, this old street is said to have been a commercial street during the Shu Han period. Today, it is a cultural and artistic hub that combines history, handicrafts, and authentic cuisine.

Strolling along the cobblestone road, the ancient-style buildings, red lanterns, and Sichuan opera face-changing performances give you a sense of traveling through time. Shops here sell traditional crafts such as Shu embroidery, shadow puppets, and bamboo weaving. There are also many authentic Chengdu snacks like Three Cannons, Long Chaoshou, and Guokui, with aromas that tempt you to eat your way through the street.

Recommended Foods:
🍢 Chuanchuan Xiang — Choose your ingredients and pair them with a spicy hot pot base, full of aroma!
🍡 Three Cannons — Glutinous rice balls bounce into a bowl, paired with soybean flour and brown sugar syrup, sweet but not greasy.
🥟 Long Chaoshou — Sichuan-style wontons with thin skin and tender filling, served in a spicy red oil broth.

At dusk, lanterns light up the street, adding a poetic atmosphere. Find a teahouse, order a cup of Gaiwan tea, and watch street performers change faces and play the guqin. The slow life of Chengdu is fully displayed here.
