Chengdu Qingyang Temple | A Taoist Sacred Land of Loyalty, Filial Piety, and Divine Virtue

In the northwest corner of Chengdu stands Qingyang Temple, the most renowned Taoist temple in Sichuan. With its vibrant incense, towering ancient trees, and extensive halls, it is known as the "First Taoist Temple in Western Sichuan."

The temple before us, inscribed with the four characters "loyalty, filial piety, and divinity," embodies the core Taoist spirit. Loyalty means devoting oneself to one's country; filial piety means caring for one's parents; and divinity means the teachings of heaven, earth, and the gods. This temple reminds us that spiritual practice does not mean severing ties with human relations; rather, it is only by starting with the principles of loyalty and filial piety that one can align with the Great Dao.

The temple's soaring eaves and intricately carved brackets, dotted with red lanterns, add a festive and solemn atmosphere. Visitors and believers alike, whether burning incense and praying or simply pausing in silence, are captivated by a solemn and pure atmosphere.
