Chengdu Qingyang Palace | The Jade Emperor Tower towers majestically, the Three Pure Ones Hall shrines solemnly: the venerable centers of Daoist faith

Within Chengdu's most renowned Taoist shrine, Qingyang Palace, the two most central halls are the Jade Emperor Tower and the Three Pure Ones Hall. These are the highest abodes of Daoist faith and the epicenter of its heaviest incense.

The Jade Emperor Tower, with its cascading eaves, exudes a majestic aura. Enshrined within the hall is the Jade Emperor, the supreme ruler of the Taoist heavens, who governs the three realms and protects all living beings. Worshippers visit the tower to pray for peace and prosperity for the nation, harmonious families, and a successful career and lasting blessings. The Jade Emperor Tower's majestic architecture not only reflects the majesty of the heavens, but also symbolizes the unwavering order of heaven and earth.

In contrast, the Three Pure Ones Hall is the spiritual core of Qingyang Palace. Enshrined within the hall are Yuanshi Tianzun, Lingbao Tianzun, and Daode Tianzun, symbolizing the three highest deities of Daoism. The hall is solemn and pure, with incense curling around it, creating a solemn atmosphere. Pilgrims put their hands together, often with the deepest respect, praying for wisdom, peace of mind and body, and wishing their own practice to be in accordance with the Tao.
