Wat Phra Singh Woramahaviharn

Wat Phra Singh Woramahaviharn is located on Sam Lan Road, Phra Singh Subdistrict. It is a temple with a history of over 655 years. Originally named 'Wat Li Chiang Phra,' meaning the temple near the central market, during the reign of the 8th king of the Mangrai Dynasty, the Phra Buddha Sihing was enshrined here, thus it was called 'Wat Phra Singh.' Wat Phra Singh has been established as a first-class royal temple of the Woramahaviharn type. The ancient sites within the temple include the Ubosot, Lai Kham Viharn, the main Viharn, and the Ho Trai, as well as valuable murals. This temple is one of the places that gather the most examples of Lanna art and architecture. According to Lanna beliefs, it is the temple of the zodiac year 'Dragon,' and the Phra Buddha Sihing is believed to bring prosperity and timely rainfall to the Lanna Kingdom.
