Aitaroun (Arabic: عيترون), also spelled Aytaroun, is a municipality in southern Lebanon, situated in the Bint Jbeil District of the Nabatieh Governorate. Located approximately 125 kilometers from Beirut, it lies on the northern border with Israel. The village sits at an elevation of about 630 to 700 meters above sea level.

🏡 Demographics & Society
	•	Population: As of 2002, Aitaroun had an estimated population of 20,000, with the actual number of residents now considered to be significantly higher.  
	•	Religious Composition: The majority of its population are Shiite Muslims.  
	•	Youthful Demographics: Approximately 45% of the population is under the age of 30, with an average family size of 6–7 members.

🌾 Economy & Infrastructure
	•	Agriculture: Most families depend on agriculture as their primary source of income.  
	•	Infrastructure: There are around 1,300 homes in the village. An electrical network was established in 1964, and access to telecommunications has been fully restored since 2006. In 2005, a telephone exchange was installed, offering connectivity to Lebanon’s telephone network. Mobile communications and internet connectivity have also been fully restored.  
	•	Education & Health: Aitaroun hosts five schools—two public and three private—serving a combined student population of over 800. The village also has a health center operated by the Ministry of Social Affairs.
