Guling Scenic Area, located atop Gushan Mountain in Guling Township , Jin'an District, Fuzhou, rises over 800 meters above sea level and is known as the " Little Lushan Mountain . " Covering approximately 24 square kilometers, with an average elevation of 750 to 800 meters and a peak elevation of 998 meters, it serves as Fuzhou's primary barrier.
By 1935, the area boasted over 200 summer villas of varying styles, as well as public buildings such as a church, hospital, tennis courts, swimming pool, and the International Public Welfare Society. Yu Dafu once spent his summers there in the 1930s. It was another influential summer resort, alongside Mount Lushan in Jiangxi, Mount Mogan in Zhejiang, and Mount Jigong in Henan.
Guling Old Post Office is another famous historical building on Guling. It opens after the Dragon Boat Festival every year and closes after the 15th day of the eighth lunar month. It is a seasonal post office and is ranked alongside Lushan Post Office as one of the five famous " summer post offices " in early China .
