Located in the heart of Chiang Mai on Samlan Road, Phra Singh Subdistrict, this temple has a history of over 655 years. Its original name was “Wat Li Chiang Phra”, which means a temple near the city center market. During the reign of the 8th king of the Mangrai Dynasty, the Phra Buddha Sihing was invited to be enshrined, so it was called “Wat Phra Singh”. According to the beliefs of the Lanna people, it is the temple for the year of the dragon. This temple has been declared an ancient site for the nation.
