Sai Mu in Chiang Mai - A path of faith and spirituality

If you want to know why everyone loves Chiang Mai…try walking this route and you will know that “city temples” are not just places to worship, but are stories, beauty and the power of faith that can be felt in your heart.
1. Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan – The starting point of great faith, a royal temple of the city that you must visit! The royal wooden temple in Lanna style, beautifully carved like a painting, enshrines “Phra Buddha Sihing”, one of the most sacred Buddha images in Thailand.
Recommendation: Light some incense, make a wish and sit quietly for 10 minutes. You will feel a deep and indescribable peace of mind.
2. Sao Inthakhil Temple (Chiang Mai City Pillar) – The heart of Lanna, located opposite the Three Kings Monument, is a sacred place that Chiang Mai people have long respected.
This is the center of the city’s power – Sao Inthakhil is like the heart of Chiang Mai. Pray for good luck and fortune, which locals believe is truly sacred!
3. Wat Duang Dee – A small temple in the middle of the city…but with great spiritual power
The name says it all: “Duang Dee”! A small temple but full of charm and positive energy. This is a temple that many people visit to ask for luck and success. Highlights: Beautiful Buddha statue, golden patterned temple, and a peaceful atmosphere suitable for praying.
4. Wat Chedi Luang Worawihan – Magnificent devotion
A landmark temple in Chiang Mai! An ancient pagoda that used to be the tallest pagoda in the Lanna Kingdom. Although only the base remains today, its sacredness and grandeur remain. Walking around the pagoda in the evening, the sunlight reflecting on the red brick walls… is a beautiful image beyond words.
5. Wat Lok Moli – Finally, a stunning wooden temple.
This temple is “a good thing in Chiang Mai” that is not as crowded as it should be. The ancient wooden temple is so beautiful that it mesmerizes the eyes. The intricate carvings from the gable to the pillars are the best spots for taking photos! Walk into the middle of the temple and turn around to take photos… I guarantee you will get a million likes. In the evening, there are hanging lanterns and Lanna-style lights, creating a romantic yet sacred atmosphere at the same time.
Route summary:
• Start at Wat Phra Singh (morning)
• Continue to Sao Inthakhil Temple + Wat Duang Dee (close to each other, walkable)
• Continue to Wat Chedi Luang (You can walk or cycle from there)
• Finally, Wat Lok Moli (recommended in the evening before sunset)
A little tip: Wear formal clothes, take off your shoes every time before entering the temple, and don't forget to bring your camera or mobile phone—every corner is a memory that must be kept!
Chiang Mai can be filled with merit in 1 day...and also filled with happiness without having to decorate. The art, culture, and tranquility of this city will make you fall in love without realizing it.
