Wat Phan On near Chiang Mai's Sunday Walking Street

๐Ÿ’ž Reasons to Visit: Wat Phan On is an ancient temple with a history spanning over 500 years, located in Chiang Mai's Old City. The temple houses the Saririkkathat Sirirat Pagoda, which is the main pagoda of Wat Phan On. After a major storm in Chiang Mai caused the pagoda to collapse, it was restored and gilded to its current beautiful state. The temple also features a main hall (Ubosot) where a replica of the Phra Buddha Chinnarat is enshrined. On Buddhist holy days, evening prayers are held, led by monks, novices, and joined by the local community. On Sundays, the temple allows vendors to sell OTOP products, savory and sweet foods, as well as various Chiang Mai-made items, providing tourists with a wide selection of souvenirs to take home.
