Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Ratchaworawihan is located within Doi Suthep-Pui National Park. The temple is situated approximately 689 meters above Chiang Mai's plains and 1,046 meters above sea level. It is one of the most significant temples in Chiang Mai province.
The path leading up to the temple features the Naga staircase, a stunning piece of artistic craftsmanship. The walk is shaded and not too hot, but it can be quite tiring. Upon reaching the top, visitors are greeted with breathtaking architecture and a panoramic viewpoint offering a full view of Chiang Mai city. The scenery is absolutely beautiful, and the atmosphere is incredibly serene.
The highlight of the temple is the large golden chedi, which is strikingly beautiful.
Recommended activities: Paying respects to the Buddha, walking around the chedi three times, climbing the stairs as an act of merit, offering alms to monks, and enjoying the city view.
Suggested duration of visit: Approximately 3 hours
Opening hours: 5:00 AM - 9:00 PM
