Pay homage to Luang Pho Sri Ayothaya at Wat Rampaeng

#ChiangMaiTravel
🏘Wat Ram Poeng (Tapotharam) During the reign of King Yod Chiang Rai, a wandering monk pitched his tent on the site of the current Wat Ram Poeng. He reported to King Yod Chiang Rai that at night, he saw a bright halo near a banyan tree, not far from where he had pitched his tent, and believed that a relic might be enshrined there.
🐘King Yod Chiang Rai prayed that if a relic was buried there, his elephant might stop there. The elephant then stopped under a banyan tree. He dug up the area and discovered the relic, a crystal tooth relic encased in a Chiang Saen-style clay urn.
🛕He then held a consecration ceremony and enshrined it in a newly built chedi on the site. He also built a principal Buddha image and Buddha images in the niches at the chedi.
🧱 During World War II, the temple became deserted until 1971, when a new viharn was built.
Highlights and attractions within the temple include:
🏠 The ubosot (ordination hall) was renovated in 1976 and houses the principal Buddha image, Luang Pho Sri Ayothaya, approximately 700-800 years old.
🛕 The Phra Borommathat Chedi
