Wat Sri Suphan, a Beautiful Temple in Chiang Mai

Wat Sri Suphan is located south of the moat on Wualai Road.

This is another ancient temple in Chiang Mai, built in 1500 by King Philokpanadda Thirat (also known as Phra Muang Kaew), the King of Chiang Mai. Inside the temple is the Silver Ubosot (ordination hall). This renovated ubosot (ordination hall) was constructed from the base and boundary of the original, which had been damaged. This makes it the first silver ubosot in Thailand. Inside the ubosot is the principal Buddha image, Phra Chao Chet Tue (Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya posture).

There's also the Lanna-style Vihara (wihan), which has been renovated with contemporary art, preserving the original features. The murals depict the 12 zodiac signs, the chedi (chedi), the center of Chiang Mai's past, and a dhamma riddle (mystery) are available for visitors to view.

Address: Wualai Road, Hai Ya Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province
