Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan, the temple for people born in the Year of the Horse

#BeautifulTempleCoordinates Today we will take you to worship and make merit, ask for blessings at Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan or simply known as Wat Phra Singh. It is a first-class royal temple, Woramahawihan type, located in Tambon Phra Singh, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province. It was built in 1888 by Phraya Phayu, the fifth king of Chiang Mai of the Mangrai Dynasty, to enshrine the ashes of Phraya Kham Fu, his father. Originally, this temple was called Wat Li Chiang Phra because the word “Li” in Lanna means “market”. In front of the temple was a community with the Li Chiang Phra Market for locals to do business, which is the origin of the name at that time.
