[Hokkaido: Hakodate] Japan's first women's convent

\\Tourist Spots//
The Trappistine Monastery, a must-see tourist spot when visiting Hakodate, was built in 1898 by eight nuns sent from France as Japan's first women's monastery. The nuns still live here today.

The only place you can enter as a tourist is the museum with a shop in the front yard, but it's a place I would recommend visiting at least once.

Facility Name: Trappistine Monastery
Access: About 35 minutes by bus from JR Hakodate Station
About 10 minutes by bus from Hakodate Airport
