🏕Wat Phra Kaew, a third-class royal temple, was originally named Wat Pa Yia because in the past, there were Yia trees (a type of native bamboo similar to ripe bamboo). There is no history of the temple being built.
🙏🏽According to Chinkalamaliphakorn and Rattanaphimwong, Thao Maha Phrom, the governor of Chiang Rai, invited the Rattanapatima from Kamphaeng Phet. Wat Pa Yia was therefore given the new name Wat Phra Kaew.
Important and interesting things in the temple are as follows:
🏡 Lanna-style chapel, inside which is the principal Buddha image, Phra Chao Lan Thong, a bronze Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya posture, sitting cross-legged. It is the largest and most beautiful Buddha image in the Pala art style in Thailand.
🛕 The octagonal pagoda is covered with copper sheets. The Fine Arts Department announced it as an important national historical site in 1935.
🙏🏽 Phra Phuttharattanakorn Navutiwatsanusonmongkhon (Chiang Rai Jade Buddha)
🏣 Hong Luang Saeng Kaew The Lanna-style building is a museum that exhibits important Buddha images, as well as Buddhist arts and culture. 🙏🏽The principal Buddha image of Wat Nong Bua Sot was brought from Wat Nong Bua Sot (Wat Nong Bot), which is an abandoned temple. ♨️Wat Phra Kaew: 19 Moo 1, Trairat Road, Wiang Subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Rai District, Chiang Rai Province 🎯Coordinates: https://maps.app.goo.gl/3FeDum2ET17F8koa9 🕖Opening - closing hours: 07.00 - 18.00 hrs.
