🙏Wat Phra Kaew, a third-class royal temple, common type, was originally called Wat Pa Yia (Bamboo Forest). It is the temple where the Emerald Buddha (Phra Kaew Morakot) was discovered, which is currently enshrined at Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram, Bangkok. Currently, Wat Phra Kaew, Chiang Rai, is home to the “Chiang Rai Jade Buddha” or the “Phra Phutta Ratnakorn Navuti Wassanusorn Mongkhon”, which the people of Chiang Rai built to replace the Emerald Buddha and enshrined in the “Hor Phra Yok”.

🏰Hor Phra Yok, an ancient Lanna-style building with murals telling the legend of the Emerald Buddha, its creation, and the ceremony to invite the Chiang Rai Jade Buddha to the temple.

Interesting things in the temple include:

🏰Ubosot, Chiang Saen style, low base, low sloping roof, built in 1890. Inside is the large bronze Buddha statue of Phra Chao Lan Thong, in the Mara-Vijaya posture, sitting cross-legged with a lotus bud in the flames. The monk's robe is short, the hair is large, and the chin is a knot. It has beautiful characteristics in the style of Pala art. It is one of the most beautiful Buddha images in Thailand. It was originally enshrined at Wat Phra Chao Lan Thong. Later, it was an abandoned temple. It was invited to be enshrined at Wat Doi Ngam Mueang. Later, it was invited to be enshrined as the principal Buddha image at Wat Phra Kaew in 1961. 🏰 The pagoda Behind the ordination hall, the octagonal base is covered with copper sheets. There are 9 layers of intersecting segments. The top of the pagoda is covered with a metal umbrella and is covered with gold leaf.
🏰 Hong Luang Saeng Kaew, a two-story building in a modified Lanna style, made of reinforced concrete with teak wood inside and outside. It is a museum that exhibits the temple's important Buddha images, including Phra Phuttha Sihing (replica), Phra Chao Tan Jai, Phra Prot Lok, Phra Phuttha Si Chiang Rai, as well as exhibits of Buddhist arts and culture.
