#Chiang Rai, Thailand #Blue Temple #Coconut Ice Cream
When traveling to Chiang Rai Province, Thailand, the White Temple, Blue Temple and Black Temple are almost must-visit check-in hotspots. Among them, only the Blue Temple is a real temple and is open to the public free of charge. The most attractive thing about this temple is its indigo architecture, which is matched with golden lines, forming a strong visual contrast, making people unable to help but press the shutter a few more times.
The official name of the Blue Temple is "Dancing Tiger Temple" (Blue Temple; Wat Rong Suea Ten; วัดร่องเสือเต้น), which means "dancing tiger" in Thai. It was built in 1996 and is considered a young temple. Its designer is Phutta Kapkaeo, who is the apprentice of the designer of the White Temple, so the shadow of the White Temple can be seen in the details.
After admiring the stunning architecture of the Blue Temple, don’t be in a hurry to leave! The small stall next to the temple sells butterfly pea flower ice cream, which is a local specialty. Although the blue appearance of the ice cream looks a bit strange, it is actually coconut flavored and is refreshing and delicious. There is also a cup of butterfly pea coconut juice under the ice cream, which has a unique flavor. If you find that your tongue has turned a light blue after tasting, don’t worry, just drink plenty of water and it will return to normal the next day!
