Worship the stupa of King Mengrai the Great @ Wat Doi Ngam Mueang
📍.. Wat Doi Ngam Mueang is an ancient and important temple because it is the temple where the stupa (gu) of King Mengrai the Great is located. It is located on Ngam Mueang Road (behind Wat Phra Kaew, Chiang Rai).
📖.. According to recorded evidence, it was built in 1860. Originally, Wat Doi Ngam Mueang had only a stupa (gu) containing the ashes of King Mengrai the Great. It was built by Phraya Chaisongkhram, his son, in the 19th Buddhist century after King Mengrai the Great passed away in Chiang Mai in 1860.
.. After the cremation of King Mengrai the Great, he did not like Chiang Mai. He returned to rule Chiang Rai and invited his father's ashes to be enshrined on this mountain.
.. Later, in 2030, Phraya Sararat Ngoenthong came to renovate and build a temple called “Wat Doi Ngam Muang”
📅.. The temple is open every day from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
