8 places to visit in Chiang Rai like in Japan 🇯🇵

We booked onto a day tour to visit the temples of Chiang Rai (1100 Thb each). On the way we stopped off at some local hot springs (not worth it but it’s a toilet stop mostly) and the long neck village.
It’s a long bus ride (3 hours on the return) but the temples are worth it. Our favourite was the white temple. It was very serene and peaceful, (with a very command surprising pop culture influenced temple interior). An ok Thai buffet lunch was also provided. The blue temple has an amazing interior too. The red temple (named for its roof)’s main feature is actually the giant bodhisattva statue. Well worth paying to take the elevator up to look out from inside the monuments head.
Throughout the day we had a guide who provided basic information about each temple.
On the return we stopped off at a water fall cafe. It’s a long day (12 hours) but a must do for Chiang Mai visits.
