Alishan is a beautiful and lush natural wonder in Taiwan, famous for its iconic red train.
Anyone visiting Taiwan should definitely spend at least one day here and stay overnight in the park. The park is huge and rainy season can be severe, so it's recommended to spend plenty of time here.
A must-see highlight is watching the sunrise in the morning. The day we visited, the temperature was around 7-8 degrees Celsius (11-15 degrees Fahrenheit), which was very chilly. However, the view was truly worth it.
Getting there: From Taipei, take the high-speed rail to Chiayi City. Then, take a bus from Chiayi to Alishan. The total travel time is about 3 hours.
