Wat Phra That Si Chom Thong Worawihan, a beautiful temple in Chiang Mai

Wat Phra That Si Chom Thong Worawihan, formerly known as Wat Phra That Chao Si Chom Thong, is an important temple in Chom Thong and the sacred relic for the Year of the Rat.

The site is a 10-meter-high mound, historically known as Doi Chom Thong.

History suggests that Wat Phra That Si Chom Thong was built around the 20th Buddhist century and houses the Phra Thaksin Moli That, the relic representing the right head of the Lord Buddha. It is about the size of a jujube seed, smooth and round, and creamy white, resembling a gourd flower or the color of a dried jasmine flower. A prominent temple tradition is the "Bodhi Tree Parade," a Lanna tradition that celebrates the continuation of Buddhism by using a tree to prop up a Bodhi tree. The parade takes place annually on April 15th.

Address: Chiang Mai-Hot Road, Ban Luang Subdistrict, Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai Province
