A Memorable Getaway to Chongming Island

Weekends are perfect opportunities to escape the bustling city and embark on new adventures. Last weekend, my family and I decided to visit the tranquil paradise of Chongming Island, a hidden gem just a stone's throw away from Shanghai. Our two-day excursion was filled with enchanting experiences and cherished memories. Allow me to take you on a journey through our remarkable getaway.

Bright and early on a sunny Saturday morning, I hailed a taxi from Changning, eagerly accompanied by my children. The daytime taxi ride to Chongming Island cost us 160 yuan, offering a scenic drive through the charming countryside. Meanwhile, my wife, who was tied up with work commitments, joined us later in the evening. Due to the time and rain in Changning, her taxi fare to the island amounted to 300 yuan.

Our home away from home for the weekend was the exquisite Ruyi Garden Hotel, where we had booked a cozy family suite. As we set foot in the park, it instantly became apparent why it was considered an absolute must-visit on Chongming Island.

Dongping National Forest Park unfurled before our eyes, revealing a vibrant tapestry of lush greenery and captivating landscapes. Every corner we explored unveiled breathtaking scenes that seemed plucked from a fairytale. From serene meadows to dense forests and tranquil lakes, the park offered an abundance of visual delights.

To make the most of our time and cover more ground, we decided to rent a gold-cart to navigate the sprawling park. The rental fee was 180 yuan per hour, a small price to pay for the freedom to discover the park at our own pace. The joy on our children's faces as we drove through the winding paths was priceless, making every moment unforgettable.

Our weekend escapade to Chongming Island exceeded all expectations, leaving us with cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
