The powerful Wanzhou Waterfall can be seen from inside the waterfall.

Heard that I could see what being behind a waterfall could feel like & took a day trip there. Wanzhou Waterfalls are nestled at the peak of a gorgeous forest part just an hour & half’s train trip from Chongqing. There are convoluted yet forgivingly gorgeous bamboo forests to navigate before getting to the waterfalls, falling majestically as if on cue.
There are excellently built Chinese-eque walkways that guide you to the back of the waterfall & that’s where you truly experience natures mastery. You get a decent distance between yourself and the falling water in front with mossy rocks in between. You will get spurts being close to the water & all so if you don’t do well with being a little wet, bring a raincoat. There’s a tram on the Forest park so you needn’t walk the entire way. Best take it on your return to the entrance so not to hike up the hills. Oh you could raft on the river too if you’re feeling extra touristy.
Getting there, well It’s a 25km drive from Wanzhou railway station by taxi or Didi. I hear there are buses too but can’t contribute on that front. Apportion about half a day’s expedition for an thorough experience. Arrive very early in the AMs as it gets incredibly busy after 10.
