Daijia Alley is located in Chongqing's Yuzhong District along the Jialing River, adjacent to the Hongya Cave Scenic Area. It is a 750-meter-long walkway built on a 60-meter-high cliff, winding in a "Z" shape to connect the old Daijia Alley street with the Jialing Riverside Road. Once part of Chongqing's ancient city wall, this area has been revitalized through urban renewal to become a popular destination blending history with modern charm. The walkway is free to access and conveniently reachable by taking Metro Line 1 or Line 6 to Xiaoshizi Station, followed by a 10-minute walk.
Taiping Gate is filled with elements of old Chongqing.
The walkway retains traditional features such as stilted houses, ancient city walls, and Huangge trees. You can even spot century-old wooden pile holes on the mountainside that once supported the stilted houses, exuding a strong sense of history.
The area also hosts numerous specialty coffee shops, cultural and creative stores, and unique restaurants, with art installations scattered throughout, making it a perfect spot for photos and social media posts.
Daijia Alley combines the steep terrain of the mountain city with the bustling charm of old Chongqing and youthful trends. During the day, you can feel the weight of history, while at night, the dazzling lights create a magical scene that complements Hongya Cave, embodying Chongqing's "8D magical city" vibe. If you want to avoid the crowds at Hongya Cave, this is an excellent place to experience Chongqing's slower pace of life.
🫛 Fun Fact
Each Huangge tree has its own growth cycle, unaffected by weather or seasons. So, you can even see them shedding leaves in spring. 🍂
