At night, 解放碑 (Jiefangbei) transforms into a neon wonderland — a pulsating heart of Chongqing where crowds flow like rivers and the skyline lights up with energy. The towering Jiefangbei monument, illuminated against the urban backdrop, becomes the centerpiece of this buzzing pedestrian zone.
I visited after sunset, and the atmosphere was electric. Giant LED screens lit up the buildings and local musicians played in the distance. Though I wasn’t shopping much, I enjoyed just walking and soaking in the vibrant rhythm of the city.
What I loved most? The contrast between the old and the new, where traditional snacks and narrow alleyways blend with modern retail giants and luxury storefronts.
