A must-see in Christchurch! $30 to break into the Antarctic ice world, cold to the nose brother red cheap!
To be honest, after seeing the Antarctic Experience Museum in Christchurch, I was still thinking about it when I returned to Hong Kong! Saying to the "International Antarctic Center", this is really the scale of Antarctica moved over, spend a little money can play half a day, like novel experiences Hong Kong girls must mark down!
Negative 40 degree challenge: The cold is worth crying
The first thing to do when entering the museum is to challenge the "Antarctic Blizzard Experience"! The staff will give me an ultra-thick down jacket and gloves, and when I put them on, I smile and say, "Don't cry until it's cold~" As soon as I pushed the door in, I was instantly cold to the point of "sneezing"! Brother Nose immediately blushed, his exhaled breath turned into white smoke, and there was a strong wind blowing "whoosh" sound around him. The best thing is that you can touch a piece of real ice, which is so cold that your fingertips are numb. This feeling is something you can never try in Hong Kong
3D icebreaker + roller coaster-grade icebreaker
The 3D movie is awesome! Sitting down with my glasses on, the screen started to see the icebreaker crashing into the iceberg with a thud, the ice crumbs seemed to bounce in front of my face, even the seats would vibrate, the foreign sister next to me was scared and grabbed my hand! There is also a segment from a penguin perspective, watching them swim in the ice hole, the screen is so close that you can reach out and touch it ~
The most exciting thing must be riding the "Antarctic Explorer"! The car looks old, but once started to move, it reverses, up and down like riding a roller coaster, and will simulate the vibration and tilt of breaking the ice, we group while shouting and laughing, the whole process 5 minutes but enough addictive, get off the legs are a little soft ~
The baby penguin is so cute that I want to steal it home
There are also little penguins living in the park! Everyone is round and round, swaying as they walk, and sometimes they even peck each other, super cute! The staff sister will carefully explain their habits, saying that the penguins here are Antarctic breeds, the temperature must be controlled at below zero, and taught us how to take pictures without scaring them, smiling throughout, asking no matter how many questions are very patient ~
Address and Transportation Guide
Conveniently located near Christchurch Airport at 38 Orchard Rd.
• Take the bus: Take bus No. 3 or 29 to the airport station, get off and walk about 5 minutes, there are easy to find signs along the way.
• Driving: Free parking is available on site, however you may have to go earlier on weekends.
• Lazy option: There is a “Penguin Express” shuttle outside the Canterbury Museum in the city center that delivers directly to the door for about $5.
Tickets are only around $30, which is really cheap compared to other attractions! I played until closing and bought a penguin doll as a souvenir. Now I put it on the sofa. When I see it, I think of myself who cried and laughed happily that day. #New Zealand #New Zealand South Island #Antarctica
