My first stop on the South Island was Christchurch. We traveled in a camper van and parked it at a designated camper van parking area. We explored the city entirely on foot. Christchurch feels quite different from the North Island, with a strong artistic vibe. The buildings are all relatively new, as they were rebuilt after the major earthquake. The streets are filled with colorful food trucks, which are very unique and charming. There’s also a boat tour available for exploring the city. During this visit, I went to the famous Cardboard Cathedral, which is entirely made of cardboard—truly fascinating. Overall, the city has a wonderful atmosphere.
