Introducing Town and Village

Zhenshan Village, nestled in the middle of the Huaxi Reservoir, sits on a peninsula surrounded by water on three sides. Primarily inhabited by the Buyi people, it boasts authentic mountain and water views, ethnic architecture, and historical relics. Located 21 kilometers southwest of Guiyang and 11 kilometers northwest of Huaxi , the village is easily accessible, taking a 4- kilometer boat ride from the Huaxi Dam .

The village , shaped like a turtle, is nestled across a river, creating a picturesque scene. The village resembles an ancient castle, its walls built against the mountainside with large, regular stones, and its gates arched with stone strips. The walls and courtyards of the houses are built with smaller stone slabs, while the roofs are made of irregular slabs instead of tiles. The pavement and alley steps are paved with large stone slabs.

The village is divided into two parts: the Upper and Lower Villages. The Upper Village is an ancient tunbao area, where all dwellings are within the tunbao walls. Most are three-sided courtyard houses, wooden structures with stone walls, roofs, and patios. Almost all utensils, including the villagers' water and grain storage jars, horse troughs, and even the statues in the mountain temples, are carved from stone.
