Cijin: A must-see when visiting Kaohsiung

#Taiwan City Attractions

If you travel to Kaohsiung, you must spend a day visiting Cijin Island. Cijin, formerly known as "Qihou", is a long and narrow island. Most tourists can take a ferry from Gushan Pier to Cijin, and the journey only takes 5 minutes.

⭕️Qijin Beach: There is an arc-shaped coastline stretching for several kilometers, with a black sand beach with fine sand. Perfect for watching the sunset. The setting sun shines obliquely, and colorful clouds dye the entire sky.

⭕️Qihou Fort: The fort ruins located on Qihou Mountain in Cijin District, Kaohsiung, have been a Class II historic site in Taiwan since 1985. It was once a military stronghold guarding Kaohsiung Port. The Qihou Battery adopts a combination of Chinese and Western designs.

⭕️Cijin Tianhou Temple: Mainly dedicated to Mazu, local people also call it Mazu Temple or Mazu Palace. The temple is very popular all year round because it is the first Mazu temple in Kaohsiung City.

⭕️Qihou Lighthouse: The ground floor is a Baroque building from the late Renaissance, and behind the main body is an octagonal brick tower. The tower area has an excellent view, overlooking the entire Kaohsiung Harbor.
