[Solo female travel in Sri Lanka] 3 stylish cafes to visit in the capital, Colombo

Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, is home to a surprising number of great cafes. Here are three recommended stylish cafes!

[Java Lounge - Fort]
In Sri Lanka, where there are no Starbucks, I had no choice but to go to Java Lounge as a substitute for Starbucks. A cup of cafe latte is 790 rupees, about 360 yen at the current exchange rate. Isn't that a pretty good price? The coffee was delicious with plenty of milk and was easy to drink.
The store was full of tourists, including Japanese, Chinese, and Spanish people, probably to kill time. The seats and interior were spacious and suited the tastes of foreigners.

[t-lounge by Dilmah - Chatham Street]
A wonderful cafe where you can spend a luxurious time at a reasonable price! Of course, the drinks are mainly made with black tea, and there is a wide variety, including mocktails and sodas. I wanted to drink milk tea, so I asked the staff for a recommendation and ordered supreme ceylon. This was a big hit. It went well with the warm milk, and when I added plenty of cinnamon and cardamom that come with the black tea to make it chai-like, I felt happy. The tea comes in a glass bottle, but it's enough for two cups. You can share it with two people, but why not try different flavors?

The strawberry tart had a crispy crust and rich cream, and was very delicious.

The peach tea and clove drink that I was given as a welcome drink was also very delicious, and it was a cafe that I wanted to visit again and again. I want to live in Colombo just for this cafe.

The store sells a lot of tea, and you can also buy unusual products such as advent calendars at reasonable prices. If you come to Colombo, this is a shop you should definitely stop by!

[Simply Strawberries by Jagro Maitland Place]

A strawberry cafe where you can enjoy hospitality and a relaxed atmosphere. It has a British feel to it.

This cafe has many dishes using Sri Lankan strawberries, but also has a wide variety of desserts and meals. The milk tea (500 Sri Lankan rupees) was served in a style similar to a cafe latte. The eclairs are rich and creamy, a taste that chocolate lovers will love. The quality was high overall. They also sell strawberry jam, so it's a great souvenir. The toilets were spacious and clean, which was great. The price was also reasonable at 1,375 Sri Lankan rupees for a drink and dessert.

Every cafe is wonderful, so be sure to check them out when you're walking around Colombo 🫢
