New Taipei Attractions in 2023 | Rongjin Time

I haven't been to Taipei for a few years, and it turns out there are new attractions opening.
Located in Da'an District, Rongjin Time, which can be reached by foot from Yongkang Street, was originally a group of official residences of the Taipei Penitentiary. It has been a prison building since the Qing Dynasty. In recent years, the southern prison wall and more than 20 Japanese-style official residences and bathhouses have been listed as historical buildings and transformed into a new cultural attraction with food and shopping.
The complex was planned and designed by Keijiro Yamashita, a Japanese expert in modern prison architecture. It adopted the latest "Pennsylvanian-style" architecture at the time and was one of the largest modern prisons in Taiwan. There are now more than a dozen small shops, including restaurants, desserts, and kimono rentals. You can visit buildings from the Japanese occupation period and take a walk under the shade of dozens of protected trees, including banyan, mango, toon and camphor trees.
Buy a cup of Champion Coffee and sit under a tree, with a bagel sandwich from Haoqiu, and spend a stress-free and comfortable afternoon.
